Attendance Policies

Our school day begins at 7:35am and ends at 2:35 pm.  Students should be in their classrooms at 7:35.   According to Marshall County Board of Education policy #6.200,all tardies are considered UNEXCUSED unless they are due to illness or legal reasons.  When your child is tardy 3 times, you will receive a letter of warning.  If the tardies continue, you will be referred to a truancy board hearing.

Absences must be documented by a doctor's note or a parent note explaining reason for absence.  Absences without documentation will be considered unexcused.  Students in grades K - 6 are allowed 5 parent notes per semester.   All absences after that will be considered unexcused unless documented with a doctor's note.  When the student reaches 5 unexcused absences, the parent will be referred to a truancy hearing with possible court appearances at the cost of the parent.

Children having 17 absences per year will be evaluated before promotion to the next grade.

Students having illness or hospitalization exceeding five days may apply to the Special Projects Supervisor for a homebound teacher to provide instruction.
